There is a planned Academy session for both the Amy Rose and the White Rose squads on Sunday 13 July (10am).
The primary purpose is to undertake preparatory work for the Amy Rose Team prior to their involvement in the National Championships at Leamington in August. However it will also give us a chance to work with the White Rose Team to prepare for future tournaments.
The day will start with a presentation by David Bolt on team development and preparation, followed by some practical sessions on the green to reinforce this. He will be assisted by our newly appointed academy managers Jordan Harston and Tom Cairns. Joan Brown who did a great job in looking after the squad in the qualifier at Dunnington will also be in attendance.
The day is open ended and although there will be some refreshments players are advised to bring lunch with them.
Since the tremendous achievement of the Amy Rose squad qualifying for Leamington Spa they have been on a team bonding day out, word has it everyone enjoyed themselves and it was great to see the youngsters all getting to know each other and gradually coming out of their shells which will build there confidence.
The session just shows that the sport isn’t just for older people and that you can make some good friends, it can be very social for younger people to get together and enjoy spending time both on and off the green.
The main thing is just enjoy it and play with a smile on your face.
