The Northern Counties took place at Silloth BC over the weekend, from a County point of view we managed to bag one title and miss out in two other finals.
Congratulations to Mark Higgins (pictured) on winning the Singles title, wins over Northumberland (21-16) and Cumbria (21-17) sealed the deal for the Seaham lad. Mark’s win ends a six year wait for our 15th success in the singles.
In the Pairs RA’s Mark Ralph’s and Andrew Kirtland beat Yorkshire 18-9 but missed out in the final losing 20-6 to Cumbria.
We had no entry in the triples with Yorkshire beating Lancashire in the final 19-18.
The Silksworth quartet of Jaxon MckKenna, Neal Ridley, John Leeman and David Bolt were beaten in the prelim by the eventual winners Cumbria 18-11.
RA’s Dave Newman beat Northumberland 17-12 to set up a final against Cumbria, sadly the lad missed out in a tight affair 15-13.
Our hope in the Under 24 Singles Silksworth Pumas Layton Sykes lost 21-14 in his opener against Northumberland, Yorkshire took the title.
We sadly didn’t send a U24 squad over but congratulations to Yorkshire on taking the title.
