RETIREMENT OF STAN CROWE
It is with great regret that the County report that Stan Crowe the County Treasurer is to retire from office with effect from 28th February 2025.
Stan has suffered health problems of late, which he has borne with his usual stoical and positive outlook and outgoing friendly demeanour.
Stan has been of positive benefit to the County and introduced many initiatives during his time as County Treasurer. Since coming into the role in 2011 his tireless work has laid the platform and the building bricks for the future at a time when Bowls Durham was establishing itself in the light of reorganisation of bowls in England.
He kept a tight rein on the financial structure of the County and oversaw as Secretary/Treasurer our two Benevolent Funds as well as dealing with the financial affairs of a number of other outdoor/indoor clubs.
He is also an Honorary Life Member of the County and its predecessor Durham County (EBA) B.A.
He was also a formidable player in his own right and whilst he was a winner, he was never precious about putting the enjoyment of the sport above other aspects of the game.
He will be missed greatly by the County and the many friends he has made over the years. We wish him and his family well for the future

APPOINTMENT OF COUNTY TREASURER
As a result of the retirement of the County Treasurer the County is seeking to appoint his successor. We are seeking applications from candidates who are experienced in financial management and have a comprehensive knowledge of the preparation and management of budgets and accounts. Ideally the appointee will be versed in the operation of bowls at club level. The role will involve the preparation and management of the accounts for both the Men’s and Women’s Sections of the County, the drawing together of both sets of accounts into one account and the management of the two County Benevolent Funds.

Main Tasks:
Setting and forecasting annual and future budgets
Managing Bowls Durham bank accounts and those of the Men’s and Women’s County Benevolent Funds accounts.
Ensuring all relevant fees are paid to the national governing body of Bowls England.
Ensuring all relevant fees are paid to the Northern Counties Bowling Association
Ensuring that all relevant fees are paid by affiliated clubs to Bowls Durham
Support the running of the County Management Committee
Representing, where deemed necessary and appropriate, Bowls Durham at County, National and Regional Events.
It is anticipated that the role will also involve the management of accounts on a regular basis including the submission of monthly reports to the County Management Committee. In addition there is a requirement to submit an audited financial statement at the year end (30th September annually) to the County AGM held in the second week of November.
