Everyone within Bowls Durham would like to pass on there condolences and best wishes to Margaret during this sad time
TRIBUTE –
Like everyone within the County I was shocked to hear the news that Garry had passed away on holiday in Spain early December.
I still remember live streaming the lad in the final of the County Two Bowl Singles in July on County Finals weekend and even playing next to him at Jarrow West End where like me we were chucking them up the green in an early County Pairs round.
Garry was a smashing lad, built like an out-house and not shy coming forward to voice his opinion, I would always get a big handshake and a hug every time our paths crossed around the county and we would have a good old chin wag putting the game right.
Garry was part of Durham’s Balcombe Trophy success in 2007, in fact the lad ditched the jack on the last end to win it.
Three County titles to his name; the triples in 2015 with his Leadgate club mates Dave Warnaby and Ian Peacock
In 2017 the fours with Dave Reed, Dave Warnaby and Ian Peacock, the quartet went onto win the Northern Counties later in the season.
Then just six months ago he won a classic Two Bowl County Final; if you watch the latter stages on commentary I thought he blew it and the look on his wife Margaret’s face when he gave the shot away was a picture. But no he said it was never in doubt after wards with his cheeky smile.
Garry it was a pleasure to meet you big lad, one of the good guys taken to early RIP
The family of Garry Robson would like you to know that a private cremation was held on Monday 20th January.
Margaret would like to thank you all for your cards and messages of condolence. She would also like you all to raise a glass in his memory.
